Social Calendar

Summary
Social Calendar is a website and application that I took part in UI/UX Design and Visual Design, and we are aiming to help the student to participate, engage, and organize their academic work and extracurricular activities. The application design helps students to find their club activities and school events easily, and they can add these events directly to their calendar so they can manage their time in one schedule. We also aim to help new students who just come to the University of Rochester to explore the campus more efficiently.

Social Calendar is trying to help students better engage in school activities and organize their school day better and more efficiently.
Project Overview
Project Summary
We created this to help students attend school club activities where they can use the social calendar to add these events directly to their schedule. We believe that URCCC is not organized and students are missing some interesting events at school. We have a detailed calendar design that helps students keep track of their academic work and school event work.
My Role
I am a Visual Designer and UI/UX Designer with a focus on creating cohesive and user-friendly designs. I contribute by selecting the primary color palette and defining the overall design aesthetic for UI/UX projects. Additionally, I organize and structure essential information to ensure our websites effectively communicate project objectives, enhancing user understanding and engagement.
Problem Statement
How could we better help students to organize their school events while balancing academic work and activities?
Goals
Help students to organize their school events while balancing academic work and activities.

Design Process
We investigate the existing solution which is URCCC and we find what we can do beyond it in order to improve students’ experience. We think about the pros and cons of the existing products, and why students like or dislike them. We also did some interviews with the main users of our project which are the U of R students, and ask their current experience with URCCC, and what are the features they are expecting, and what they want the new product to have. Then we first organize the functions that we need in our design and the information that we need to put on the website for the users who want to know better our tool. Finally, we put it together to the landing page.
Results
We need to think about how to let the users of URCCC use our product, so we need to keep thinking about what can we do better in the whole process. I learned how to use WIX to create the landing pages, and what are the important information that could let the browser to clearly know the picture of our project.
